Protein glycosylation is one of the most common post-translational modifications, however its evolutionary origin is largely unexplored.
In this project we use phylostratigraphic tracking of human glycosylation genes and their target genes to gain better understanding of the macroevolutionary origin and evolution of protein glycosylation.
